DCX (DDB1-CUL4-X-box) E3 단백질 리가아제 복합체의 구성요소로서, 표적 단백질의 유비퀴틴화 및 단백질 분해를 매개합니다.
또한 FGF8 발현 및 사지 발달에 필요하며, KCNT1과의 상호작용을 통해 기억 및 학습 관련 뇌 영역에서 대형 칼슘 활성화 칼륨 채널의 조립과 신경세포 표면 발현을 조절하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
CRBN은 다양한 조직에서 발현되며 특히 뇌에서 높은 발현을 보입니다.
