PLAC1 (Placenta-specific 1)은 원래 태반 및 배아 발생 중 trophoblast 계통 세포에서 특이적으로 발현되는 단백질로 확인되었으나, 유방암을 비롯한 다양한 인체 악성 종양에서도 이소성 발현이 보고되었습니다.
PLAC1은 세포막 관련 단백질로, 모체-태반 계면에서 세포 간 또는 리간드-수용체 상호작용을 조절하는 수용체 유사 기능을 하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
PLAC1 발현 감소는 cyclin D1 및 AKT kinase 발현 감소와 관련이 있으며, 암세포 표면에 발현된다는 점에서 PLAC1은 암 면역치료의 유망한 타깃 후보로 제시되고 있습니다.
