Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Secretin belongs to the glucagon family of hormones. It is produced primarily by endocrine S cells in the proximal small intestinal mucosa. The release of active secretin is stimulated by fatty acids or acidic pH in the duodenum. This hormone stimulates secretion of bicarbonate-rich pancreatic fluids and plays roles in the growth and development of the stomach, small intestine, and pancreas. Secretin deficiency has been associated with autistic syndrome, suggesting a possible neuroendocrine function in addition to its digestive role.
