The eBio64DEC17 antibody reacts with human IL-17A and functions as a neutralizing antibody.
IL-17A is a CD4+ T cell-derived cytokine involved in inflammatory responses and is elevated in rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, and transplant rejection.

Human IL-17A exists as glycosylated 20–30 kDa homodimers produced by activated CD4+ T-cells. It enhances ICAM-1 expression in fibroblasts and stimulates epithelial, endothelial, or fibroblastic cells to secrete IL-6, IL-8, G-CSF, and PGE2. In fibroblasts, IL-17A supports CD34+ progenitor proliferation and neutrophil maturation.

IL-23-dependent Th17 cells produce IL-17A via a distinct differentiation pathway from Th1 and Th2 cells. IFN-γ and IL-4 negatively regulate Th17 generation.

The eBio64DEC17 antibody identifies the same intracellular population as eBio64CAP17 in co-staining experiments.
It is validated for use as a detection antibody in ELISA and ELISPOT assays for human IL-17A, typically used at 0.5–2.0 µg/mL in sandwich ELISA with eBio64CAP17 as capture antibody and recombinant IL-17A as standard.

Target Information

Interleukin-17A (IL-17A, CTLA-8) is a CD4+ T cell-derived cytokine promoting inflammatory responses and elevated in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
It is a 32 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer (136 amino acids) signaling through IL-17R/CDw217. IL-17A regulates NF-κB and MAPK activities, stimulates IL-6 and COX-2 expression, and enhances nitric oxide production.
