M-phase inducer phosphatase 3는 인간에서 CDC25C 유전자에 의해 암호화되는 효소입니다. 이 유전자는 진화 과정에서 높은 보존성을 가지며 세포 분열 조절에 핵심적인 역할을 합니다. 해당 단백질은 tyrosine phosphatase로서 Cdc25 phosphatase 계열에 속하며, cyclin B-bound CDC2 (CDK1)의 탈인산화를 유도하여 유사분열로의 진입을 촉진합니다. 또한 p53에 의해 유도되는 성장 정지를 억제하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 여러 가지 대체 스플라이싱 전사체가 보고되었으나, 그 중 다수의 full-length 형태는 아직 명확히 밝혀지지 않았습니다.
