Despite the predicted molecular weight, Bfl-1 often migrates at a higher molecular weight in SDS-PAGE, presumably due to post-translational modifications.
A suggested positive control is human kidney tissue lysate.
PA5-20268 can be used with blocking peptide PEP-0383.
Target Information
Bcl-2 related Protein A1 is a member of the BCL-2 protein family. These proteins form hetero- or homodimers and act as anti- and pro-apoptotic regulators involved in various cellular processes such as embryonic development, homeostasis, and tumorigenesis.
The protein encoded by this gene reduces the release of pro-apoptotic cytochrome c from mitochondria and blocks caspase activation.
This gene is a direct transcription target of NF-kappa B in response to inflammatory mediators and is up-regulated by extracellular signals such as GM-CSF, CD40, phorbol ester, TNF, and IL-1, suggesting a cytoprotective function essential for lymphocyte activation and cell survival.
