ITGA3 (Integrin, alpha-3)
Also known as CD49C, VLA3, or GAPB3, ITGA3 is a member of the integrin family of cell surface adhesion molecules. It is encoded by the ITGA3 gene located on chromosome 17q21.33.
- Forms part of the alpha3beta1 integrin complex, which plays a key role in neural migration and corticogenesis.
- Involved in DAB1 phosphorylation and ITGA3 signaling, regulating neuronal detachment from radial glial fibers.
- Expression of human ITGA3 increases viral infectivity in Chinese hamster ovary cells.
- Contains 13 potential N-glycosylation sites, 2 potential cleavage sites, and 7 N-terminal repeating units characteristic of ITGAs.
- Recombinant ITGA3 is expressed as a 150 kDa protein, consistent with the native protein on Western blot.
