Target Information
SIRT7 is a member of the sirtuin family of proteins, homologous to the yeast Sir2 protein. Members of this family share a conserved sirtuin core domain and are grouped into four classes, with SIRT7 belonging to class IV. While the specific functions of human sirtuins are still under investigation, yeast sirtuins are known to regulate epigenetic gene silencing and suppress rDNA recombination. Studies suggest that human sirtuins, including SIRT7, may act as intracellular regulatory proteins with mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activity.
