c-Jun은 전사 인자로서 enhancer heptamer motif 5'-TGA[CG]TCA-3'에 결합합니다. HIPK3에 의해 인산화될 때 NR5A1의 활성을 촉진하여 cAMP 신호 경로 자극 시 스테로이드 생성 유전자 발현을 증가시킵니다. 또한 활성화된 KRAS에 의해 매개되는 USP28의 전사적 활성화에 관여합니다 (대장암 세포 내).
