Tyrosine phosphorylation plays a key role in signal transduction from transmembrane receptors and transformation by oncogenic tyrosine kinases. It is a primary mechanism in mitogenesis, cell cycle progression, and oncogenic transformation, and continues to be studied in differentiation and gap junction communication.
Antibodies specific to phosphorylated tyrosine residues are essential tools for studying tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins and their biochemical pathways.
The fluorescein (FITC) conjugate of clone PY20 anti-phosphotyrosine is particularly useful for detecting P-Tyr proteins in immunohistochemical and immunocytochemical assays where secondary antibodies may interfere with detection.
