Target Information
HFE 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 MHC class I형 단백질과 유사한 막 단백질로, β2-microglobulin과 결합합니다. 이 단백질은 transferrin receptor와 transferrin의 상호작용을 조절하여 철 흡수를 조절하는 기능을 하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 유전성 혈색소증(hereditary haemochromatosis)은 이 유전자 결함으로 인해 발생하는 열성 유전 질환입니다. 현재까지 최소 9개의 대체 스플라이싱 변이체가 보고되었으며, 추가 변이체도 발견되었으나 완전한 길이는 확인되지 않았습니다.
