Target Information
This gene, a member of the tetraspanin superfamily, is located in the imprinted gene domain of chromosome 11p15.5, a key tumor-suppressor region. Alterations in this region are associated with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, Wilms tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, adrenocortical carcinoma, and various cancers including lung, ovarian, and breast.
TSPAN32 may play a role in malignancies and hematopoietic cell function. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, though their biological validity remains undetermined.
