Target Information
This gene encodes one of seven subunits of the human Arp2/3 protein complex. The subunit belongs to the SOP2 family and is closely related to ARPC1A. Both may function as the p41 subunit of the Arp2/3 complex, which regulates actin polymerization. The p41 subunit likely contributes to assembling and maintaining the Arp2/3 complex structure. Multiple versions may allow functional adaptation across cell types or developmental stages. Additionally, this protein plays a role in centrosomal homeostasis as an activator and substrate of Aurora A kinase.
