Product Specific Information

Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using a 10 mM citrate buffer (pH 6.0) for 10 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
After antigen retrieval, incubate samples with primary antibody for 10 minutes at room temperature.
A suggested positive control is prostate carcinoma.

Target Information

The androgen receptor (AR) is a member of the steroid-hormone receptor superfamily of nuclear receptors.
It is a ligand-activated transcription factor that binds active testosterone (T) and dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
Upon ligand binding, AR translocates into the nucleus, dimerizes, and stimulates transcription of androgen-responsive genes.
AR signaling plays a key role in development and function of male reproductive organs such as the prostate and epididymis, and also in nonreproductive tissues like muscle, hair follicles, and brain.
Abnormalities in AR signaling are associated with diseases including prostate cancer, Kennedy’s disease, and male infertility.
Mutations in the AR gene can lead to complete androgen insensitivity (CAIS).
