Target Information
Members of the TNF superfamily regulate immune responses and induce apoptosis.
A novel member, APRIL (A Proliferation-Inducing Ligand), also known as TALL2 and TRDL1a, was identified in human and mouse.
Two receptors for APRIL, TACI and BCMA, mediate its effects.
APRIL stimulates B and T cell proliferation, triggers humoral immune responses, activates NF-κB, and induces cell death.
APRIL and its relative BlyS, along with BCMA and TACI receptors, are implicated in autoimmune and cancer-related diseases.
