FGFR2는 수용체 티로신 키나아제 계열의 FGFR 패밀리에 속하며, 혈관신생, 세포분열, 골형성, 근형성, 암 발생, 세포 분화 및 손상 후 조직 복구 등 다양한 세포 기능을 조절합니다.
FGFR 패밀리는 암, 류머티즘성 관절염, 당뇨병성 망막병증 등 여러 질환과 관련되어 있습니다.
FGFR2 유전자의 돌연변이는 Crouzon, Pfeiffer, Apert, Jackson-Weiss, Beare-Stevenson, Saethre-Chotzen 증후군 등 다양한 두개골 조기융합 증후군과 관련이 있습니다.
이 유전자는 다양한 스플라이싱 변이체를 통해 여러 이소폼을 생성합니다.
