Target Information
DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. They are implicated in multiple cellular processes involving RNA secondary structure modifications such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. Based on their distribution, some members are associated with embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division.
DHX30 is a member of this family and shares 97% sequence identity with the mouse HELG protein. Alternative splicing generates 3 transcript variants.
