This antibody detects endogenous levels of Nucleophosmin only when phosphorylated at Thr237.
Target Information
NPM1 (Nucleophosmin 1, also known as B23, nutramin, NO38) is a ubiquitously expressed phosphoprotein involved in:
- Ribosome assembly and transport
- Cytoplasmic/nuclear trafficking
- Regulation of DNA polymerase alpha activity
- Centrosome duplication
- p53 regulation
NPM1 shuttles between the nucleus, cytoplasm, and nucleolus, acting as a chaperone for core histones. It binds nucleic acids, prevents protein aggregation, and facilitates refolding of denatured proteins. NPM1 is also associated with centrosome duplication and serves as a substrate of CDK2/cyclin E. Abnormal NPM1 function is implicated in diseases such as acute myeloid leukemia and lymphomatoid papulosis.
