This normal rat serum can be used to inhibit non-specific binding of rat monoclonal antibodies during staining for flow cytometric analysis or immunohistochemistry.
Reported applications include:

- Immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections
Target Information
Normal sera are non-immune serum samples from various species (goat, human, mouse, rabbit, etc.) containing the typical complement of serum proteins, including immunoglobulin classes found in healthy animals.
Normal serum provides sufficient endogenous proteins to block nonspecific binding sites on fixed samples or assay substrates.
When used as an antibody diluent, non-immune serum maintains a native chemical environment for antibody function without introducing foreign proteins.
Normal sera are commonly used for:
- Blocking or saturating nonspecific binding in immunodetection methods such as IHC
