Target Information

Cardiac Troponin T is the tropomyosin-binding subunit of the troponin complex located on the thin filament of striated muscles and regulates muscle contraction in response to intracellular calcium ion changes.
It is essential for muscle function and myofibril formation. In humans, four cTnT isoforms are expressed in a developmentally regulated manner, and expression is affected by heart failure.
Mutations in this protein are associated with familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and dilated cardiomyopathy.
Alternative splicing of the TNNT2 gene results in multiple tissue-specific isoforms.
