Target Information
Pancreatic polypeptide (PP) is a 36 amino acid peptide structurally related to NPY and PYY. It is primarily expressed in the endocrine pancreas and released in response to cholinergic stimulation and food intake. PP inhibits gall bladder secretion, intestinal motility, and pancreatic secretion. It may serve as a marker for certain gut endocrine tumors, including carcinoid tumors.
