Product Specific Information
ABS 022-11B-01 detects Leptin in human samples and has been successfully used in ELISA procedures.
This antibody binds free Leptin in solution and serves as a detection antibody in sandwich ELISA when paired with ABS 022-03-02 as the capture antibody.
The immunogen is purified, recombinant Leptin protein.
Target Information
Leptin is a 167 amino acid protein hormone (~16 kDa) encoded by the obese (ob) gene. It regulates body weight, metabolism, and reproductive function.
Leptin is primarily secreted by adipocytes and also by stomach epithelium and placenta.
Leptin receptors are expressed in hypothalamus, T lymphocytes, and vascular endothelial cells.
It influences food intake, energy expenditure, adiposity, hematopoiesis, angiogenesis, wound healing, inflammation, immune response, pubertal development, and fetal growth.
Defects in leptin production can cause severe hereditary obesity in rodents and humans.
