Target Information
C-Jun N-terminal Kinase (JNK), also known as Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK8), is part of the MAPK superfamily of stress-activated protein kinases. These kinases are Serine-threonine protein kinases activated in response to various extracellular stimuli and mediate signal transduction from the cell surface to the nucleus.
JNK is involved in diverse cellular processes such as:
- Proliferation
- Differentiation
- Transcription regulation
- Development
JNK pathways are activated by stress and inflammatory signals. The protein is expressed as ten isoforms due to differential mRNA splicing, with JNK1 and JNK2 being predominant.
