Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and have potential as cancer and disease biomarkers. The KLK8 gene, part of the kallikrein subfamily cluster on chromosome 19, may be involved in proteolytic cascades in the skin and serve as a biomarker for ovarian cancer. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
