This antibody detects endogenous levels of Cyclin E1 only when phosphorylated at Thr77.

Target Information

Cyclin E belongs to the highly conserved cyclin family, characterized by a periodicity in protein abundance through the cell cycle. Cyclins regulate CDK kinases and exhibit distinct expression and degradation patterns, coordinating mitotic events.
Cyclin E forms a complex with CDK2, functioning as a regulatory subunit required for the G1/S transition. It accumulates at the G1-S phase boundary and is degraded during S phase. Overexpression is associated with chromosomal instability and tumorigenesis.
Cyclin E interacts with NPAT protein, which participates in histone gene expression regulation and promotes cell-cycle progression in the absence of pRB. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encode distinct isoforms; additional variants have been reported but not fully characterized.
