Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Neurogranin (NRGN) is the human homolog of the neuron-specific rat RC3/neurogranin gene. This gene encodes a postsynaptic protein kinase substrate that binds calmodulin in the absence of calcium. The NRGN gene contains four exons and three introns; exons 1 and 2 encode the protein, while exons 3 and 4 contain untranslated sequences. It has been suggested that NRGN is a direct target for thyroid hormone in the human brain, and that regulation of this gene’s expression may underlie effects of hypothyroidism on mental states during development and adulthood.
