Endotoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of the antibody by the LAL method.
Target Information
Activins are dimeric growth and differentiation factors belonging to the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) superfamily of structurally related signaling proteins.
They signal through a heteromeric complex of receptor serine kinases, including at least two type I (I and IB) and two type II (II and IIB) receptors.
These receptors are transmembrane proteins composed of a ligand-binding extracellular domain with a cysteine-rich region, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic domain with predicted serine/threonine specificity.
Type I receptors are essential for signaling, while type II receptors are required for ligand binding and expression of type I receptors.
After ligand binding, type I and II receptors form a stable complex, leading to phosphorylation of type I receptors by type II receptors.
Mutations in Activin A are associated with fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva.
