Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
This gene encodes a type II classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily. The encoded membrane protein is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. Type II (atypical) cadherins are defined by their lack of the HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence found in type I cadherins. Cadherins mediate homophilic cell-cell binding, contributing to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types and maintenance of tissue architecture. Alternative splicing in the 5′ UTR of this gene yields variant transcripts encoding the same protein.
