  • The peptide is homologous in mouse and shares 95% identity with human.

Target Information

Secretory carrier membrane proteins (SCAMPs) are components of post-Golgi membranes involved in membrane trafficking.
In fibroblasts, SCAMPs are concentrated in compartments associated with recycling of cell surface receptors and endocytosis.
In neurons, SCAMPs are found in synaptic vesicles, secretion granules, and transporter vesicles.
SCAMPs have four central transmembrane regions and a cytoplasmic tail.
Of the five known SCAMPs, SCAMPs 1–3 contain N-terminal NPF repeats interacting with EH domain proteins involved in vesicle budding.
SCAMPs 4 and 5 lack NPF repeats. SCAMPs 1–4 are ubiquitously expressed, while SCAMP5 is detectable only in the brain and expressed late in development, coinciding with mature synapse formation.
