Target Information
Secretory carrier membrane proteins (SCAMPs) are components of post-Golgi membranes and are involved in membrane trafficking.
In fibroblasts, SCAMPs are concentrated in compartments associated with recycling of cell surface receptors and endocytosis.
In neurons, SCAMPs are found in synaptic vesicles, secretion granules, and transporter vesicles.
Among the known SCAMPs, SCAMP1 is the most abundant and is required for stable exocytosis in mast cells.
