Specificity: Binds native and reduced human VEGF (isoform 165), with a Kd of 0.8 nM determined for the original clone.
Target Information
VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) is a 45 kDa homodimeric, disulfide-linked glycoprotein involved in angiogenesis, promoting tumor progression and metastasis. It enhances endothelial cell viability, mitogenesis, chemotaxis, and vascular permeability. The VEGF family includes VEGF-A, VEGF-B, VEGF-C, VEGF-D, VEGF-E, and PIGF. VEGF and its receptors (VEGFR-1/FLT1 and VEGFR-2/FLK1/KDR) are crucial regulators of angiogenesis signaling. Elevated VEGF levels are associated with POEMS syndrome (Polyneuropathy, Organomegaly, Endocrinopathy, Monoclonal gammopathy, Skin changes), also known as Crow-Fukase syndrome.
