Product Specific Information

The TL2.1 monoclonal antibody reacts with human Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2). This receptor, part of the Toll family, is a type I transmembrane protein involved in innate immunity and inflammation. TLR2 is expressed by peripheral blood monocytes and recognizes various pathogens.

TL2.1 is a blocking antibody used to study TLR2-mediated cytokine production in response to microbial lipoproteins. It can immunoprecipitate human TLR2 (~90 kDa) from PBMC and HMEC.

Applications Tested: Pre-titrated for flow cytometry on human peripheral blood cells at 5 µL (1 µg) per test.

Target Information

TLR2 is a member of the Toll-like receptor family, essential for pathogen recognition and activation of innate immunity. It acts via adaptor molecules such as MyD88 and TIRAP to activate kinases and transcription factors (e.g., PKCα/β, NF-κB). TLR2 forms heterodimers with TLR1 or TLR6 to detect bacterial and mycoplasma lipoproteins.

TLR2 is highly expressed in peripheral blood leukocytes and mediates host responses to Gram-positive bacteria and yeast. It recognizes pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and triggers cytokine production for effective immunity. Expression varies by cell type and is regulated by immune modifiers (e.g., upregulated by LPS, GM-CSF, IL-1, IL-10; downregulated by IL-4, IFN-γ, TNF).
