Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They consist of a selection of multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity and consistency of monoclonal antibodies.

These antibodies recognize multiple epitope sites on the target, providing higher detection sensitivity for low abundance targets. Because the antibody population is recombinantly defined, each lot is consistent and free from biological variability.

Target Information

STAT1 (Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 1) is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors. It is activated by interferon-alpha, interferon-gamma, EGF, PDGF, and IL-6, and regulates genes involved in cell growth, apoptosis, immune responses, and lipid metabolism.

STAT1 plays a key role in mediating cell viability in response to various stimuli and pathogens. The STAT1 gene is located on chromosome 2. Upon phosphorylation by JAK tyrosine kinases, STAT1 translocates to the nucleus to regulate transcription of numerous genes.
STAT1 is activated by ligands such as IFN family (IFN-α, IFN-β, IFN-γ, IL-10), gp130 family (IL-6, IL-11, LIF, CNTF, G-CSF), and receptor tyrosine kinases (EGF, PDGF, CSF-1). Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
