It plays a crucial role in maintaining crista junctions, inner membrane architecture, and forming contact sites with the outer membrane.
Additionally, CHCHD3 functions as a transcription factor that binds to the BAG1 promoter and represses BAG1 transcription, contributing to MICOS complex stability and mitochondrial cristae morphology.
