This antibody has specificity for Human CEACAM1/CD66a.
Target Information
CEACAM1 is a member of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) gene family, belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. The CEA cell adhesion molecules and pregnancy-specific glycoproteins are located within a 1.2 Mb cluster on chromosome 19.
The protein was first described in bile ducts of the liver and later identified as a cell-cell adhesion molecule on leukocytes, epithelia, and endothelia. It mediates adhesion via homophilic and heterophilic interactions.
CEACAM1 is involved in tissue differentiation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and immune modulation. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been reported.
