Product Specific Information

  • Detects endogenous protein at molecular weights of 49, 57, and 65 kDa.
  • Purity >95% by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

The c-Myc protein is a 62 kDa transcription factor encoded by the c-Myc gene on human chromosome 8q24.
It is frequently activated in tumor cells and plays key roles in:

  • Cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression
  • Phosphorylation at Thr58/Ser62 by GSK3, CDK, ERK2, and JNK
  • Vasculogenesis and angiogenesis during tumor development

Abnormal c-Myc expression is associated with multiple cancers including lung, breast, colon, and neuroblastoma.
Translocation of the c-Myc locus is characteristic of Burkitt’s lymphoma and other B-cell proliferative disorders.
Antibodies against c-Myc epitopes can detect overexpressed or tagged proteins containing Myc sequences.
