Product Specific Information
The monoclonal antibody 10F7MN recognizes human glycophorin A (CD235a), detecting both M and N alleles. Glycophorin A is a 151 amino acid sialoglycoprotein found on erythrocyte and erythroid progenitor cell membranes (~500,000 copies per cell). The gene resides on chromosome 4 with two allelic forms (M and N) differing at two amino acids:
- M group: Ser1, Gly5
- N group: Leu1, Glu5
Studies suggest that toxin exposure may cause allele mutations, potentially linked to cancer and heart disease predisposition.
Each product includes:
- 1 vial of NovaFluor conjugate
- 1 vial of CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Pre-diluted and tested on normal human peripheral blood cells at 5 µL (0.8 µg) per test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).
Important Notes:
- NovaFluor dyes are not compatible with DNA intercalating viability dyes (e.g., propidium iodide, 7-AAD, DAPI).
- Use Invitrogen LIVE/DEAD Fixable Dead Cell stains with NovaFluor dyes.
- Use CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer (Cat. No. C001T06F01) for optimal staining.
- Add 5 µL per sample before mixing with cells.
- For single-color controls, use 5 µL per 100 µL of cell sample (10³–10⁸ cells).
NovaFluor conjugates utilize Phiton™ technology based on nucleic acid dye structures, engineered for optimized fluorescent signatures minimizing spillover and spread.

Target Information
CD235a (Glycophorin A, GPA) is a single-pass membrane sialoglycoprotein expressed in mature erythrocytes and erythroid precursor cells. It carries blood group M and N specificities and provides a mucin-like barrier minimizing red blood cell aggregation. CD235a also acts as a receptor for Sandei virus, parvovirus, and Streptococcus adhesin (Hsa).
