Ras는 막 단백질을 암호화하는 N-ras 온코진으로, 골지체와 세포막 사이를 이동합니다. 이 이동 과정은 ZDHHC9-GOLGA7 복합체에 의해 조절되는 팔미토일화 및 탈팔미토일화에 의해 제어됩니다. Ras 단백질은 고유한 GTPase 활성을 가지며, guanine nucleotide-exchange factor에 의해 활성화되고 GTPase activating protein에 의해 비활성화됩니다.
Ras 유전자 변이는 직장암, 여포성 갑상선암, 자가면역 림프증식증후군, Noonan 증후군, 그리고 소아 골수단핵세포백혈병과 관련이 있습니다.
