MA1-06312 detects basal cell cytokeratin in human, quail, chicken, rat, rabbit, hamster, canine, and guinea pig samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blotting, flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, and immunohistochemistry.
By Western blotting, it detects a ~300 kDa protein representing basal cell cytokeratin.
The MA1-06312 immunogen is a mix of cell preparations containing human cytokeratins.
Target Information
Cytokeratin pan is part of a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by remarkable biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides.
Cytokeratins range in molecular weight between 40–68 kDa and have an isoelectric pH between 4.9–7.8.
Human cytokeratins are numbered 1–20 and are expressed according to epithelium type and differentiation stage.
Cytokeratin subtype expression patterns are used for distinguishing epithelial malignancies and are valuable in tumor diagnostics, cytopathology, and flow cytometry.
Keratins serve as markers in cancer research and tumor diagnosis due to their variable composition depending on cell type, differentiation, and disease state.
