1 µg/mL of MA5-45321 was sufficient for detection of GRP78 in 20 µg of HEK-293 lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 78 kDa.
Target Information
GRP78 is a 78 kDa glucose-regulated protein belonging to the heat shock protein 70 family. It resides in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and interacts with newly synthesized secretory and membrane proteins. GRP78 assists in protein folding and degradation of misfolded proteins through interaction with DNAJC10. It is essential for maintaining cell homeostasis and preventing apoptosis. GRP78 levels serve as biomarkers of hypoglycemia and have neuroprotective roles under oxidative stress. Reduced GRP78 expression is observed in Alzheimer’s disease and is linked to PS1 gene mutations. Induction of GRP78 is associated with drug resistance in cancer therapy.
