Target Information
The exosome is involved in various cellular RNA processing and degradation events. DIS3 (exosome complex exonuclease RRP44) is a ribonuclease that participates in RNA processing, turnover, and surveillance of multiple RNA species. It localizes in both cytoplasm and nucleus, contains one PINc domain, and is widely expressed, with highest levels in testis. DIS3 is required for processing 7S pre-RNA into a mature nuclear complex and proper mitotic progression. Abnormal expression of DIS3 may be linked to colon cancer, suggesting a possible role in tumorigenesis.
