Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consisting of a small 40S and a large 60S subunit. These subunits contain 4 RNA species and about 80 distinct proteins.
The RPL10A gene encodes a ribosomal protein of the 60S subunit, belonging to the L1P family, and is localized in the cytoplasm. Its expression is downregulated in the thymus by cyclosporin-A (CsA) and during neural precursor cell development in mice.
Previously known as NEDD6 (neural precursor cell expressed, developmentally downregulated 6), the gene has been renamed RPL10A. Multiple processed pseudogenes are dispersed throughout the genome.
