Target Information
The exosome is involved in various cellular RNA processing and degradation events. DIS3, also known as exosome complex exonuclease RRP44, is a ribonuclease that functions in processing, turnover, and surveillance of distinct RNA species. It localizes to both cytoplasm and nucleus, contains one PINc domain, and is widely expressed with highest levels in testis. DIS3 is required for processing of 7S pre-RNA into a mature nuclear complex and proper mitotic progression. Abnormal expression levels may be associated with colon cancer, suggesting a role in tumorigenesis.
