Target Information
Complex II of the respiratory chain is involved in the oxidation of succinate and transfers electrons from FADH to CoQ. The complex consists of four nuclear-encoded subunits localized in the mitochondrial inner membrane. The iron-sulfur subunit is highly conserved and contains three cysteine-rich clusters that may form the enzyme’s iron-sulfur centers. Mutations in this gene are associated with paragangliomas and pheochromocytoma, indicating a link between mitochondrial dysfunction and tumorigenesis.
