Product Specific Information
- Cross-reactivity: <1% against mouse NGF, recombinant human NT3 or NT4/5 (by one-site ELISA).
- Reacts with BDNF from rat and human.
- Recommended concentrations:
- Inhibition of biological activity in vitro: 1–10 µg/mL
- In vivo studies: use neat at 2–10 µg/mL (ED50)
- Reconstitution: Add 500 µL distilled water.
- Storage after reconstitution:
- Aliquots at -20°C for higher stability
- 4°C with appropriate antibacterial agent for short-term use
Target Information
BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) is a member of the neurotrophin family. It is synthesized as pre-proBDNF, processed to proBDNF, and further cleaved to the mature 14 kDa protein. Both proBDNF and mature BDNF are biologically active and secreted in synaptic vesicles.
BDNF is expressed widely in the central nervous system and acts on neurons through TrkB and p75-NTR receptors, promoting neuronal survival, differentiation, and synaptic regulation. Reduced expression is observed in Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s disease and may influence stress response and mood regulation.
