Product Specific Information

MA5-14661 targets Alpha-1 Antitrypsin in ELISA, IP, and RIA applications and shows reactivity with human samples.
The immunogen is purified human α1-Antitrypsin.
MA5-14661 detects Alpha-1 Antitrypsin with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 46 kDa.
Product MA514661 is a smaller package size of MIA1101 (formerly sold as a Seradyn product).

Target Information

Alpha-1 Antitrypsin (Alpha-1-AT) is synthesized in the liver and acts as an inhibitor of proteases such as trypsin, elastase, chymotrypsin, collagenase, leucocytic proteases, plasmin, and thrombin. These enzymes may be released during inflammatory reactions in the lung.
In the absence of Alpha-1-AT, these enzymes are not inhibited and can digest pulmonary parenchyma. Deficiency of Alpha-1-AT is associated with chronic obstructive lung disease (emphysema), hepatic cirrhosis in infants, and respiratory distress in newborns.
Alpha-1-AT levels increase as an acute phase response to tissue necrosis and inflammation, and are elevated in rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, vasculitis, and carcinomatosis.
