Target Information
FOXP3 (Forkhead box protein 3) is a transcriptional regulator belonging to the forkhead/winged-helix family, essential for immune homeostasis.
It is highly expressed in CD25+ CD4+ regulatory T cells and plays a critical role as a master regulator of T-cell function.
Defects in FOXP3 cause scurfy phenotype in mice and IPEX syndrome in humans.
FOXP3 expression in human cancer cells is regulated by p53 in response to DNA damage.
