Target Information
CD45 (LCA, leukocyte common antigen) is a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) expressed in all nucleated hematopoietic cells, comprising about 10% of lymphocyte surface proteins. It is absent in non-hematopoietic cells and tissues.
CD45 plays a key role in lymphocyte development and antigen signaling by regulating Src-family kinases. Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing, differing in extracellular domains but sharing identical transmembrane and cytoplasmic regions.
CD45RA is one such isoform with cell type–specific expression. CD45 modulates T- and B-cell receptor signaling, suppresses JAK kinases, and influences cytokine receptor signaling, integrin-mediated pathways, and apoptosis-related processes.
