Description:
The 2B8 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD117 (c-Kit receptor), also known as Steel factor receptor or stem cell factor receptor. This 145-kDa tyrosine kinase receptor is expressed on hematopoietic progenitor cells, particularly Sca-1⁺ Thy1^low lineage⁻ subsets in mouse bone marrow. Interaction with steel factor promotes proliferation and differentiation of these progenitors. CD117 is also expressed by mast cells and plays a role in their activation.

Suitable for flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometry on mouse bone marrow cells. Recommended ≤0.25 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Optimal antibody titration is advised for best performance.

Target Information
KIT (c-KIT):
A proto-oncogene encoding a type III transmembrane receptor for mast cell growth factor (MGF or SCF). It regulates growth and activation of hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells. Mutations in KIT are linked to gastrointestinal stromal tumors, mast cell disease, acute myelogenous leukemia, and piebaldism. The D816V mutation in KIT is associated with neoplastic mast cell proliferation. Upon SCF binding, c-Kit dimerizes and autophosphorylates, activating downstream signaling pathways including Ras/ERK, PI3K, PLC-γ, and JAK/STAT. KIT signaling is essential for hematopoiesis, stem cell maintenance, and gametogenesis.
