Product Specific Information
PA1-4282 detects the Trp-p8 protein in human samples.
PA1-4282 has been successfully used in Western blot procedures. By Western blot this antibody detects a ~125 kDa protein representing Trp-p8 in transfected COS cells.
PA1-4282 immunizing peptide corresponds to amino acid residues 278–292 and the C terminus sequence of the human Trp-p8 protein.
Target Information
TRPM8 is a receptor-activated non-selective cation channel involved in detection of sensations such as coolness, activated by cold temperature below 25°C.
TRPM8 is activated by icilin, eucalyptol, menthol, and modulation of intracellular pH, and is involved in menthol sensation.
It is permeable to monovalent cations (Na⁺, K⁺, Cs⁺) and divalent cation (Ca²⁺).
TRPM8 expression is mainly restricted to prostate epithelial cells, moderately expressed in normal prostate tissue, and elevated in prostate cancer.
TRPM8 mRNA is also expressed in several nonprostatic primary tumors (breast, colon, lung, skin), while hardly detected in corresponding normal tissues.
